Dominican Republic highlights achievements of its Pro Tempore Presidency of COMISCA

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic has concluded its six-month term as Pro Tempore President of the Council of Ministers of Health of Central America and the Dominican Republic (COMISCA), highlighting progress in regional health cooperation and governance.

Health Minister Dr. Víctor Atallah closed the country’s presidency by inaugurating the 63rd Ordinary Meeting of COMISCA, where health ministers and senior officials from the member countries of the Central American Integration System (SICA) reviewed achievements from the past six months and outlined new strategies to strengthen regional collaboration.

During its presidency, the Dominican Republic promoted initiatives focused on improving health governance, technical cooperation, digital transformation, research, workforce development, and regional preparedness for health emergencies.

Atallah said the region’s health challenges require coordinated, science-based responses and emphasized the importance of deeper regional integration to build more resilient and equitable healthcare systems.
