Dominican Republic honors outgoing Canadian Ambassador with national award
Santo Domingo.- Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez presented Canada’s Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Jacqueline Delima Baril, with the Order of Merit of Duarte, Sánchez and Mella in the Grade of Grand Cross Silver Plaque as she concluded her three-year diplomatic mission in the country.
The distinction, granted by President Luis Abinader through Decree No. 421-26, recognizes the ambassador’s contributions to strengthening bilateral relations between the Dominican Republic and Canada. During the ceremony, Álvarez praised Delima Baril’s commitment to fostering cooperation, dialogue, and mutual trust between the two nations.
Accepting the award, Ambassador Delima Baril reflected on the achievements of her tenure and expressed gratitude for the honor, reaffirming the strong friendship and cooperation shared by Canada and the Dominican Republic. The ceremony was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters and attended by senior government officials, diplomats, and members of the Canadian Embassy.
