Dominican Republic hosts international MASTERY leadership program for audit institutions
Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic is hosting the international master class “Leading Myself, Leading Others” from September 29 to October 1, as part of the MASTERY leadership program of the Development Initiative of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (IDI-INTOSAI).
The event marks the second MASTERY activity held in the country in 2026, reinforcing the Dominican Republic’s participation in international cooperation, training, and knowledge exchange among Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs).
During the opening, Emma Polanco Melo, president of the Chamber of Accounts of the Dominican Republic (CCRD), emphasized the importance of strengthening leadership, emotional intelligence, and other skills needed to manage oversight institutions and address current challenges.
The program is organized by the Swiss Federal Audit Office, with support from the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). MASTERY is designed for heads of Supreme Audit Institutions and focuses on strengthening leadership capabilities, institutional transformation, knowledge sharing, and international cooperation.
Representatives from Ecuador, Spain, Brazil, Honduras, Norway, and Switzerland, as well as specialists from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and other organizations, are participating in the meeting.
The academic agenda includes sessions on leadership styles, ethics, emotional intelligence, conflict management, and complex institutional situations, combined with case studies, discussions, and exchanges of experiences among participants.
Swiss Ambassador Pascal Bornoz has highlighted the importance of international cooperation in developing more transparent and efficient public institutions, while Eduardo Ruiz García, senior manager of IDI, has emphasized MASTERY’s role in strengthening leadership and institutional transformation within audit bodies.
The meeting also strengthens cooperation between the Dominican Chamber of Accounts and IDI-INTOSAI, while reinforcing the country’s international ties in areas related to public oversight, transparency, and accountability.
