Dominican Republic launches Paris artist residency program with France

The Dominican Republic Embassy in France and Banco de Reservas, through its Banreservas Cultural Center, have launched the “Dominican Republic x Cité internationale des arts” program, a new initiative designed to promote Dominican visual artists internationally through research residencies in Paris.

Developed in partnership with the Cité internationale des arts, one of Europe’s leading artist residency institutions, the program will select six Dominican artists between 2026 and 2028, with two artists chosen each year for three-month residencies in the French capital.

Participants will receive accommodation, a studio workspace, professional mentoring and a stipend to cover living and local transportation expenses.

The call is open to Dominican visual artists residing in the Dominican Republic whose projects are conceptually or contextually linked to Paris or France. Eligible disciplines include painting, sculpture, photography, installation, digital art, performance and interdisciplinary practices.

Applications will be accepted until August 30, 2026, with the selected artists to be announced in October during Dominican Week in France.

Ambassador David Puig said the initiative strengthens cultural diplomacy by expanding the international presence of Dominican artists and fostering long-term artistic collaboration between the Dominican Republic and France.
