Dominican Republic ranks 64th in World Happiness Report 2026
The Dominican Republic ranked 64th out of 147 countries in the World Happiness Report 2026, earning an average score of 6.093 out of 10 based on Gallup World Poll data collected between 2023 and 2025.
The annual report measures how people evaluate their overall quality of life using a 0-to-10 scale and averages responses over three years to provide a more stable assessment of well-being. Researchers also analyze factors that help explain differences in happiness levels, including GDP per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom to make life choices, generosity, and perceptions of corruption.
According to the report, the Dominican Republic has continued to improve its standing in recent years, placing it among the countries that have recorded notable gains in perceived well-being.
In addition to the global rankings, the report examined whether social media use affects life satisfaction in the Dominican Republic. The analysis, based on Latinobarometer surveys conducted between 2023 and 2024, included 1,891 Dominicans aged 15 and older and reviewed the use of platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, X, Instagram, and TikTok.
Researchers found no statistically significant relationship between using a greater number of social media platforms and reporting higher or lower levels of life satisfaction.
The study accounted for factors including interpersonal trust, confidence in government, religiosity, social class, and perceptions of the country’s economic situation to better assess the relationship between digital behavior and personal well-being.
Published annually, the World Happiness Report compares well-being across countries and examines how economic, social, and institutional conditions shape people’s perceptions of their quality of life.
