Dominican Republic redirects consular services for citizens in Nicaragua

The Dominican Republic’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX) announced that, following the withdrawal of its diplomatic representation in Nicaragua, Dominican citizens residing there must obtain consular services and assistance through the country’s representations in Costa Rica and Honduras.

Services will be provided by the Consular Section of the Dominican Embassy in San José, Costa Rica, and the Dominican Consulate General in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.

MIREX also announced the temporary suspension of judicial notifications and other procedural acts involving individuals or legal entities domiciled in Nicaragua. The suspension is due to force majeure following the withdrawal of the Dominican diplomatic mission.

The consular offices in Costa Rica and Honduras will not process these judicial procedures in Nicaraguan territory. MIREX said the suspension will remain in effect until the conditions necessary to restore the service are in place.

Dominican citizens requiring consular assistance are encouraged to contact the appropriate representation in Costa Rica or Honduras during its public service hours.
