Dominican Republic reelected to OAS Inter-American Juridical Committee
Panama City.- The Dominican Republic has been elected for a second term to the Inter-American Juridical Committee (CJI) of the Organization of American States, reinforcing its role in key legal and diplomatic discussions across the Americas. The country’s candidacy was approved by acclamation during the 56th Ordinary Session of the OAS General Assembly held in Panama City.
Representing the Dominican Republic is jurist Julio José Rojas Báez, who currently serves as president of the committee and as special rapporteur on the legal implications of sea level rise in the inter-American context. Candidates from Brazil and Mexico were also elected during the process.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted that the election reflects the growing influence of the Dominican Republic in multilateral organizations and recognizes the expertise of Dominican legal professionals. The Inter-American Juridical Committee serves as the OAS’s advisory body on legal matters, promoting the development and codification of international law and fostering legal cooperation and integration among countries in the hemisphere.
