Dominican Republic repatriates 62 more citizens from Venezuela after earthquakes
Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic has facilitated the return of 62 more people from Venezuela following the recent earthquakes, bringing the total number of repatriated citizens under Operation Quisqueya Solidaria 2026 to 171, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX) announced.
The latest humanitarian flight, coordinated by MIREX and operated by Arajet, transported 50 Dominican nationals, 12 Venezuelan relatives of Dominicans, the Dominican USAR search-and-rescue team, and Foreign Ministry personnel who had been assisting citizens seeking to return home. Officials, including Vice President Raquel Peña, welcomed the group upon arrival at Las Américas International Airport.
The outbound flight also delivered humanitarian aid to Venezuela along with a 40-member medical mission led by Public Health Minister Víctor Atallah, who will provide emergency healthcare through a mobile field hospital. MIREX said it will continue coordinating assistance for Dominicans abroad while supporting Venezuela’s earthquake recovery efforts through humanitarian cooperation.
