Dominican Republic repatriates 65 people from Venezuela after earthquakes

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican government repatriated 65 people on a humanitarian flight from Venezuela following the recent earthquakes, in an operation ordered by President Luis Abinader and coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MIREX).

The Sky High flight arrived at Las Américas International Airport carrying 55 Dominicans, nine Venezuelans with ties to the Dominican Republic and one U.S. citizen. Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez welcomed the passengers, reaffirming the government’s commitment to protecting Dominicans abroad and providing a swift response during emergencies.

Álvarez also highlighted the joint efforts of the Ministry of Defense and MIREX, led by Vice Minister for Consular and Migration Affairs Opinio Díaz, in coordinating the mission. Dominican authorities continue to provide assistance in Venezuela through a special consular team supporting nationals who remain in the country.
