Dominican Republic returns to Madrid’s Hispanic Day Parade with 200 participants
The Dominican Republic will showcase its culture in Madrid on Sunday, October 4, during the 2026 Hispanic Day Parade, marking the country’s fourth participation in the celebration.
Beginning at 6:00 p.m. local time, approximately 200 Dominican participants will parade from Plaza de España along Gran Vía to Cibeles, turning the route into a showcase of Dominican music, dance, folklore, carnival, and national symbols.
The Dominican delegation will feature several artistic groups, including the Califé Fantasy Troupe, Dominican Folkloric Troupe, Dominican Flag Fantasy Troupe, Guloyas, Diablos Cojuelos, and the “Elements of Our Land” troupe, which will highlight products and cultural symbols such as larimar, tobacco, mamajuana, beer, and coffee.
A Dominican float will serve as one of the main attractions, incorporating the national flag, Caribbean Sea, tropical landscapes, architecture, vegetation, and lighting into a mobile representation of the country.
The artistic concept combines traditional folklore with contemporary elements and aims to highlight the diversity of Dominican culture while strengthening ties between the Dominican community and Spain.
The parade will be led by visual artist Manuel Montilla, as King Momo, and communicator and producer Mariasela Álvarez, as Queen Momo. Special guests include comedian Irving Alberti, dancer Nati Brito, choreographer Loris Brea, and Dominican influencers and comedians Yamilet González, Jonathan Soriano, and Stiven Brito, known as “Carecantina.”
Cultural manager and producer Héctor Farías is responsible for the artistic direction, conceptualization, and overall production of the Dominican presentation.
The 2026 participation also forms part of a broader effort to strengthen Dominican cultural visibility in Madrid. Organizers are preparing for the Dominican Parade in Madrid, planned for February 2027, bringing together artists, cultural organizations, members of the diaspora, institutions, and businesses.
The Dominican participation is supported by the Community of Madrid, Dominican Ministry of Culture, Dominican Embassy in Spain, Dominican Consulate General in Spain, and INDEX, along with private companies and organizations from the Dominican community in Madrid.
