Dominican Republic selected to host International Anti-Corruption Conference 2026

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic will host the International Anti-Corruption Conference (IACC) from December 1–4, 2026, bringing together more than 2,000 participants from around 140 countries for the world’s premier forum on transparency, integrity, and the fight against corruption.

President Luis Abinader announced the event alongside representatives of Transparency International and the IACC during a meeting with executives from the country’s leading media organizations. He said combating corruption and impunity remains one of his administration’s top priorities and described the conference as an opportunity to strengthen international cooperation and promote more transparent institutions.

Carlos Pimentel, director general of Public Procurement, noted that the IACC is held every two years and has more than three decades of history. He said the conference will bring together government officials, international organizations, civil society, academics, business leaders, journalists, and anti-corruption experts to discuss strategies for preventing and combating corruption.

IACC Director Roberto Pérez Rocha said the agenda will address issues including threats to democracy, environmental crime, illicit financial flows, artificial intelligence, disinformation, and governance. Investigative journalism will also play a central role, with organizations such as the Pulitzer Center, the Global Investigative Journalism Network (GIJN), and the Press and Society Institute (IPYS) participating in training sessions and discussions.

Transparency International President François Valérian welcomed the Dominican Republic’s role as host, emphasizing that corruption is a global challenge that requires cooperation among governments, civil society, the private sector, and the media. He said the conference will promote the exchange of best practices to strengthen transparency, accountability, and democratic institutions worldwide.
