Dominican Republic strengthens European tourism presence at Top Resa

Paris.- The Dominican Republic is strengthening its position in the European tourism market through its participation in IFTM Top Resa in Paris, one of Europe’s leading tourism trade shows.

Tourism Minister David Collado, who is leading the Dominican delegation, said the event provides an opportunity to promote a broader tourism offering that combines beaches, culture, gastronomy, nature and unique experiences while strengthening business partnerships and air connectivity.

France remains a key European market for the Dominican Republic. Between January and August 2026, the country received 112,056 visitors from France, a 14.3% increase compared with the same period in 2025, or 14,039 additional tourists. France ranked as the country’s ninth-largest source market during the period. In 2025, the Dominican Republic welcomed 132,747 tourists residing in France.

New air connections

Air connectivity is one of the main focuses of the Dominican delegation at the fair. Air Caraïbes currently connects France with Punta Cana, Santo Domingo and Samaná, while Air France will strengthen its Paris-Punta Cana service with three weekly flights beginning November 30, 2026.

Italy will also gain a new direct connection when ITA Airways launches flights between Rome and Santo Domingo on November 30, initially once a week and increasing to two weekly flights in mid-December.

The Dominican Republic is represented at the fair by more than 21 co-exhibitors, including hotels, airlines, tour operators and destination management companies. The delegation is holding business and strategic meetings aimed at attracting new investment, expanding connectivity and increasing visitor arrivals.

Beyond business, the Dominican stand showcases the country’s cultural identity through larimar and amber, Dominican cuisine, music and dance.

Visitors can sample dishes inspired by different regions of the country, while Dominican dancers and artists bring merengue and bachata to the event.

Through its participation in IFTM Top Resa, the Dominican Republic seeks to strengthen established European markets, create new business opportunities and position the country as a diverse destination offering beaches, culture, gastronomy, nature, luxury, adventure and authentic Dominican experiences.
