Dominican Republic strengthens position in MICE tourism at IBTM Americas 2026

Mexico City.- The Dominican Republic concluded its participation in IBTM Americas 2026 in Mexico City, highlighting the country’s growing position as a destination for meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE).

Held August 19–20, the event brought together more than 45 Dominican companies, including hotels, resorts, tour operators, destination management companies and specialized suppliers. The delegation held approximately 1,500 business meetings with buyers, event planners and tourism professionals interested in the Dominican Republic.

The country’s participation comes amid continued growth in the MICE segment. In 2025, approximately 330,000 non-resident visitors traveled to the Dominican Republic for meetings, incentives, conferences and other business events. The country currently has 117 hotels with dedicated event spaces, offering capacity for meetings, conventions, incentive trips and gatherings of different sizes.

Tammy Reynoso, Vice Minister of Tourism Development, said the Dominican Republic is committed to strengthening and diversifying its tourism industry, while using the MICE segment to attract high-value visitors, generate business and promote the country’s infrastructure, connectivity and tourism experiences.
