Dominican Republic surpasses 100 medals at Santo Domingo 2026 Games

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic has surpassed the 100-medal mark at the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games, achieving the milestone for the fifth time in its history.

The country’s medal count reached 105 after strong performances in weightlifting, canoeing, and karate. Alicia Feliz earned two silver medals in the women’s 58 kg weightlifting event, while Rafael Feliz and Cristian Guerrero captured silver in the men’s K2 500-meter canoeing race. Karate added a gold medal in the women’s team kata event and two bronze medals, one in the men’s team kata and another by Karen Madera in the women’s -68 kg kumite.

Host nation Dominican Republic entered the Games aiming to surpass its record of 133 total medals, set at Mayagüez 2010, and its all-time best of 35 gold medals from San Salvador 2002. With only two days of competition remaining, those marks remain within reach.
