Dominican Republic swears in 182 new citizens from more than 30 countries

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic swore in 182 new citizens from more than 30 countries after they completed the country’s naturalization process, including document reviews, interviews and citizenship examinations.

The ceremony was led by Minister of the Interior and Police Faride Raful, who emphasized that acquiring Dominican nationality carries both rights and responsibilities and requires a commitment to the country’s laws.

Raful said the Ministry of the Interior and Police has modernized the naturalization process by digitizing application files and incorporating interviews and citizenship tests, strengthening oversight and compliance with established requirements.

Dayana Díaz, director of Naturalization, highlighted the work involved in reviewing each application and the importance of recognizing the people behind the documentation.

Representing the newly naturalized citizens, academic and businessman Arturo de las Heras expressed his gratitude for the welcome he received in the Dominican Republic and described citizenship as the culmination of his long-standing ties to the country.

The ceremony marks another step in the Dominican Republic’s naturalization process, formally granting citizenship to applicants who have fulfilled the legal requirements and assumed the rights and duties of Dominican nationality.
