Dominican Republic targets French investment in semiconductor manufacturing
France.- The Dominican Republic is promoting itself as a strategic destination for semiconductor assembly, testing and packaging (ATP) operations as part of efforts to attract high-tech investment and strengthen its position in global technology supply chains.
The initiative was presented during Dominican Week in France by MICM Vice Minister of Foreign Trade Daniel Peña and Dominican Ambassador to France David Puig during a meeting with Laurence Dassas, executive director of the Fédération de l’Électronique Française (FdEF).
The officials highlighted the Dominican Republic’s logistical capacity, economic stability and operational advantages for high-tech manufacturing. The discussions form part of the National Semiconductor Strategy led by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs (MICM) under Minister Yayo Sanz Lovatón.
The government aims to attract French investment while promoting technology transfer, strengthening the local industrial ecosystem and creating specialized, high-quality jobs for Dominicans.
The FdEF represents 230 companies and a sector that supports approximately 80,000 direct and 170,000 indirect jobs in Europe.
Dominican Week in France, held in Paris from October 17 to 22, brings together government and business representatives to promote Dominican exports, attract investment and strengthen economic and commercial ties between the two countries.
