Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic has begun preparations to host the 41st Session of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), scheduled for October 7–9, 2026, in Santiago de los Caballeros.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mirex) presented details of the regional meeting to members of the diplomatic corps, international organizations, government officials, business leaders and other stakeholders.

The three-day session is expected to bring together foreign ministers, heads of delegation from ECLAC member states, senior government officials, representatives of multilateral organizations and banks, the private sector, academia, civil society and international media to discuss regional economic development and shared challenges.

Foreign Minister Víctor “Ito” Bisonó emphasized the importance of dialogue and multilateralism in addressing common challenges. He said the Dominican Republic hopes the meeting will generate lasting partnerships, cooperation initiatives and new opportunities for regional collaboration.

The agenda will include discussions on regional integration, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, productive development and macroeconomic policy. It will also feature a panel on the northern region of the Dominican Republic and the role of public-private dialogue in the country’s transformation, as well as a meeting of foreign ministers and senior officials on managing transformations during a period of global disruption.
