Dominican Republic to host Latin American food security summit in August

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic will host the 11th Meeting of the Network of Public Food Supply and Marketing Systems (Red SPAA) from August 11 to 13, bringing together government officials and food security experts from across Latin America and the Caribbean.

The conference, organized by the Presidency of the Republic, the Price Stabilization Institute (Inespre), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and the Red SPAA, will serve as a platform for participating countries to exchange best practices and strategies to strengthen public food supply systems and improve regional food security.

According to Inespre Executive Director David Herrera Díaz, delegations from Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay are expected to attend the event in Santo Domingo.

The summit will officially open on August 11 with the participation of President Luis Abinader, along with national authorities, international officials, and representatives from SPAA member countries.
