Dominican Republic wins mixed 4×400 relay gold with record-breaking performance

Santo Domingo.– Olympic champion Marileidy Paulino powered the Dominican Republic to a historic gold medal in the mixed 4×400-meter relay at the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, anchoring the team to a new Central American and Caribbean record of 3:10.57 before a jubilant home crowd at the Félix Sánchez Olympic Stadium.

The Dominican quartet of Erick Sánchez, Anabel Medina, Christopher Melenciano and Paulino delivered one of the most memorable performances of the Games. Sánchez opened the race, followed by Medina and Melenciano, who handed the baton to Paulino with the Dominican Republic running in second place. The Olympic champion unleashed a powerful final leg, overtaking the leaders to secure the gold medal and ignite celebrations among thousands of fans.
