US mulls construction of a natural gas terminal in Dominican NW
Santo Domingo.- The United States Government will finance a feasibility study for the construction of a natural gas terminal in Manzanillo (northwest), including a project to build a natural gas plant in the area.
The Energy and Mines Ministry (MEM) said the planned facility would diversify trade with that type of fuel, as well as the electric matrix.
The United States Trade and Development Agency will donate the US$1.2 million required for the study that will be ordered by the MEM and will be the starting point for a possible tender for the construction of the terminal and a new plant for electricity generation
The Northwest houses Manzanillo bay and port, which on numerous occasions has been mentioned as a potential major fuel terminal.
