Opposition candidate gets a politico; the ruling party gets a champ

Santo Domingo.- The chance occurrences which have dwindled the poll numbers of opposition PRD party presidential candidate Hipólito Mejía continued today, when the icon politico Hatuey De Camps agreed to support his bid, as ultra distance swimmer Marcos Diaz was announcing his endorsement of ruling PLD party candidate Danilo Medina.

Mejía said De Camps, president of the minority PRSD will designate one of his party leaders to share the position with PRD campaign chief Cesar Cedeño, after the agreement reached toward the May 20 elections.

Diaz said he decided on Medina as the best proposal, and called on the Dominican youth to join him in order to guarantee a continuing progress, adding that just as he, Medina is a champion and “a banquet in matters of politics.”
