Dominican president heads Restoration of Independence ceremonies

Santiago, DR.– Yesterday was a special day for Santiago, whose population celebrated the 150th anniversary of the Restoration, in a ceremony headed by president Danilo Medina.

Earlier in the morning Medina said the Dominican people have a debt of gratitude to the heroes and perennial war martyrs, who fought bravely, sacrificed their property and offered up their own lives to rescue national independence from foreign domination.
