Christmas and New Year death toll: 47 people dead in traffic accidents

Santo Domingo.– The Center for Emergency Operations (COE) said that duringthe "Safe Christmas for Values, 2014-2015" operation 47 people died in traffic accidents.

According to COE’s latest bulletin, the deaths are related to 516 trafficaccidents, of which 202 occurred on highways, and 314 in streets andavenues.

A total of 1,294 people were involved in traffic accidents, 258suffered alcohol poisoning, and 40 food poisoning. Among those who werehospitalized for alcohol poisoning there were three children between 2 and 11 years of age.
