American Airlines opens US flights to Puerto Plata, Punta Cana

Santo Domingo.- AmericanAirlines on Sunday opened new routes linking the northern city of Puerto Platawith Charlotte, North Carolina, the carrier´s second flight in LuperonInternational Airport,.

American Airlines alsoopened new routes to Punta Cana, from Dallas-Fort Worth, and from O´Hare in Chicago.

Upon arrival the A319 aircraft with a capacityfor 124 passengers, was met with the symbolic water arch by executives of the airportsmanagement contractor Aerodom), American Airlines, government officials and communityleaders.

"We´re verypleased to announce the beginning of the Charlotte-Puerto Plata route everySaturday as an important impetus to the development of this tourist destinationwhile diversifying the connection flights to and from the United States," saidLuperon Airport operations director Enrique Pacheco.

“The new Charlotte-PuertoPlata route is a sign of the North region´s importance for the country´s tourismand for the airline, and complements the range of frequencies and services currentlyoffered from the airport," said Hector Martinez, American Airlines generalmanager for Santo Domingo, Puerto Plata, Santiago and La Romana.

In Punta Cana

American Airlines country manager Oliver Bojos and Haydee Kuret de Rainieri, of the Puntacana Group, cut the ribbon for the new flights at Punta Cana Airport.
