Drivers advised of road closures ahead of Santo Domingo 2026 cycling event

Santo Domingo.- Drivers traveling along the Santo Domingo and Santo Domingo Este Malecón on Friday, July 31, should expect temporary traffic disruptions as cyclists participating in the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 conduct a pre-race course reconnaissance.

The traffic restrictions will be in effect from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and will affect portions of 30 de Mayo Highway, George Washington Avenue, Paseo Presidente Billini, and Avenida España.

Authorities recommend using alternative routes, including Rómulo Betancourt, México, Mella, and Simón Bolívar avenues for travel in Santo Domingo, while motorists in Santo Domingo Este are advised to use Las Américas, 26 de Enero, Estados Unidos, and Mirador del Este avenues.

Officials said the temporary road closures will also be reflected in the Waze navigation app, and officers from the General Directorate of Traffic Safety and Land Transportation (Digesett) will be deployed along the route to direct traffic and minimize congestion.

Organizers urged drivers to plan their trips in advance and follow traffic officers’ instructions to help ensure safe and efficient mobility during preparations for the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games.
