Five injured in crash on Punta Cana–Miches highway

Punta Cana.- At least five people were injured Saturday afternoon following a collision between two vehicles on the Punta Cana–Miches highway near the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

One of the injured, Yunior Bienvenido García Macea, was taken to the Nuestra Señora de La Altagracia General and Specialty Hospital in Higüey after suffering injuries in the crash. He was driving a red Daihatsu GS that overturned and landed upside down. The driver of the second vehicle, identified as Luis Aquino Ortiz, was transported to the Punta Cana Medical Center.

Three additional passengers — Hitel Arias, Nadieli Aybar, and Naideli Adames — were also injured and taken to Verón Hospital for treatment. According to preliminary reports, the accident occurred around 4:45 p.m. Emergency response teams from 911, the Fire Department, RD Vial, Digesett, and other agencies assisted at the scene while authorities continue investigating the cause of the crash.
