Fuel truck catches fire near Sheraton Hotel in Santo Domingo

Santo Domingo.- A fuel truck caught fire Monday morning while traveling along George Washington Avenue near the Sheraton Hotel in Santo Domingo, causing traffic congestion in the area.

Several units from the National District Fire Department responded to the scene to extinguish the flames, while agents from the National Police, the General Directorate of Traffic Safety and Land Transportation (Digesett), and other emergency agencies worked to secure the area and manage traffic.

Digesett urged drivers to avoid the area if possible, maintain a safe distance from the incident, and follow instructions from traffic officers and emergency personnel.

Authorities have not yet reported whether there were any injuries or fatalities.
