Gonzalo Castillo meets U.S. Ambassador after visa reinstatement

Santo Domingo.- Gonzalo Castillo, presidential candidate of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) and former minister of public works, held a meeting with Leah Francis Campos, describing the encounter as productive and significant for strengthening bilateral relations.

According to Castillo, the meeting focused on shared perspectives regarding the future of the Dominican Republic and opportunities to deepen cooperation with the United States to generate tangible benefits for both nations. The meeting took place shortly after the former official announced that U.S. authorities had reinstated his 10-year visa.

On May 26, Castillo publicly confirmed the restoration of his visa and expressed gratitude to the U.S. government, President Donald Trump, and Ambassador Campos for the decision. The development also follows his recent acquittal in the Calamar corruption case, marking a notable moment in his political resurgence.
