Colombia.- Honduran President Nasry Asfura congratulated Dominican President Luis Abinader on the successful organization of the XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, praising the quality of the event as the Games concluded in the Dominican capital.
During a meeting with Abinader in Cali, Colombia, Asfura said Honduran sports officials attending the Games were impressed by the organization, modern sports facilities, athletes’ village and the treatment provided by Dominican organizers.
With Honduras set to host the next Central American and Caribbean Games in 2029, Asfura requested Dominican support and expertise in organizing the regional sporting event, which brought together more than 6,200 athletes and sports representatives in Santo Domingo.
Abinader agreed to share the Dominican Republic’s experience and facilitate cooperation with Honduran sports authorities. He also introduced Asfura to Dominican sports leader Luisín Mejía, president of Centro Caribe Sports, to help establish a collaboration process ahead of the 2029 Games.
The two presidents also discussed strengthening bilateral trade, business and cultural ties. Abinader invited Asfura to visit the Dominican Republic to continue those discussions, with the date of the Honduran president’s visit to be announced later.
