Immigration officials detain 38 Haitians at 12 Chinese chicken restaurants in the capital

Immigration control inspectors raided 12 food establishments, mostly “Chinese fried chicken” restaurants, located in five of the main commercial arteries of Greater Santo Domingo.

As a result of the operation, 38 Haitians with irregular immigration status were detained. Those detained included 34 men and four women, who were working in the kitchen and selling food to the public.

The deployment of the interdiction agents covered premises located on San Martín, Tiradentes, Nicolás de Ovando, Las Palmas avenues, and the Old Road.

The action seeks to ensure compliance with the General Migration Law in the capital’s commercial sector.

During the tour, the authorities requested documentation from those present at the Mechy Restaurant, located on San Martín Street, as well as from the businesses Expreso Siglo, Expreso Aurora, Expreso Wilsin, Mi Gusto, and D’ Gavy Pechurina.

The immigration verification route continued at the Pica Pollo Expreso Kally, Pica Pollo Millón, Papa Pollo, Chino Pollo, Pica Pollo Salud, and Pica Pollo Rico Sabor restaurants.

The General Directorate of Migration, under the provisions of Law 285-04, conducts routine inspections of food businesses and other productive sectors across the country.
