Immigration says it detained 2,336 foreign nationals and deported 1,846

The General Directorate of Migration (DGM) reported yesterday that it detained 2,336 foreigners during Wednesday operations in the country’s provinces, while another 1,846 were deported through border crossings.

A statement from the entity indicates that the most detainees were in Elías Piña, with 389, followed by Dajabón, with 240; Independencia, with 199; San Juan, with 141; Santo Domingo, with 134; La Vega, with 117; and Pedernales and Santiago, with 114 each.

Migration also reported 113 in Valverde, 76, in Montecristi, 66, in Bahoruco, 60 in Samaná, 53 in Duarte, 47 in Espaillat, 46 in Barahona and the same number in La Altagracia, 43 in María Trinidad Sánchez, 39 in Monseñor Nouel, 36 in San Cristóbal, 32 in San Pedro de Macorís, 20 in Hato Mayor, 17 in Santiago Rodríguez. 14 in Hermanas Mirabal, 10 in La Romana and 6 in El Seibo.

The DGM explained that the actions were carried out in urban and rural areas and border provinces, in coordination with military agencies and security forces.
