INAPA highlights water and sanitation advances at EXCO RD 2026 in Santiago

Santiago.- The executive director of the National Institute of Drinking Water and Sewerage (INAPA), Wellington Arnaud, presented the lecture “Planning to transform: effective management as a path to human development, sustainability and public trust” during Expo Construcción RD 2026 (EXCO RD), held in Santiago.

Arnaud outlined the main infrastructure projects carried out by the institution, emphasizing that they are the result of strategic planning and continuity in public policy. He cited several drinking water systems developed under his administration, including the aqueducts of Villa Altagracia, Monción, Navarrete, Ocoa, Miches, and Pedernales.

In the area of sanitation, he highlighted key government initiatives such as the rehabilitation of the Gurabo stream, considered one of the most important environmental projects in the country. He also referenced wastewater treatment plants in Baní, in Peravia province, and Las Matas de Farfán, in San Juan, as part of efforts to improve public health and environmental sustainability.

“This is human development. It is investing in people’s quality of life,” Arnaud stated, adding that these achievements reflect President Luis Abinader’s commitment to strengthening access to essential services through INAPA.

He also pointed to the Universal Sanitation Program for Coastal and Tourist Cities, which has received recognition from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) as a regional benchmark for sanitation innovation and impact.

EXCO RD 2026, the leading construction and real estate fair in the Cibao region, is being held from June 17 to 19 at the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM) in Santiago, organized by the Cibao Association of Housing Developers and Builders (APROCOVICI). The event aims to promote industry growth, foster innovation, and generate business opportunities, with the goal of becoming a leading annual platform for the Dominican construction sector.
