Indomet Report Two tropical waves under surveillance: one reaches 50% chance of cyclonic development

The Dominican Institute of Meteorology (Indomet) reported this Friday that it is monitoring two areas of disorganized downpours and thunderstorms associated with tropical waves, due to their potential for cyclonic development.

The first is located less than 1,000 kilometers east of the Lesser Antilles, and its probability of cyclonic development decreased to 30% for the next two to seven days.

The second system is located several hundred kilometers southwest of the Cape Verde Islands. This system has a 30% chance of development over the next 48 hours, while the chance for development over the next seven days reaches 50%.

Given the location and evolution of both systems, Indomet indicated that it maintains continuous monitoring.

Meanwhile, weather conditions over the Dominican Republic will be influenced by an air mass with light to moderate concentrations of Saharan dust, along with reduced humidity and the gradual westward movement of a trough.

These conditions will favor a gray and mostly clear sky, hot temperatures and little rain in much of the country.

Only isolated showers are expected during the afternoon, mainly towards the Central Mountain Range and the border area.
