Infotep to transform former Legislators’ Club into hospitality and tourism training center

Santo Domingo.- The National Institute of Technical and Professional Training (Infotep) has officially received the facilities of the former Legislators’ Club, which will be converted into a modern technical and vocational training center specializing in hospitality and tourism.

The handover was carried out in a ceremony led by the General Directorate of National Assets and the Chamber of Deputies of the Dominican Republic. National Assets Director Rafael Burgos Gómez delivered the property to Infotep Deputy Director General Luis Manuel Rodríguez, representing Director General Maira Morla Pineda.

The transfer was supported by Resolution No. 670, approved in July 2024, along with Executive Decrees 235-01 and 664-23, which authorized the use of the property for public purposes and technical-professional training. Chamber of Deputies President Alfredo Pacheco said the initiative reflects a commitment to the country’s future by transforming a recreational facility into a school that will train thousands of young people and strengthen the tourism sector.

Officials said the new center will expand opportunities for technical education in Santo Domingo Este and support the continued growth of the Dominican Republic’s tourism industry. The event was also attended by Rafael Santos Badía, legislators, and representatives from Infotep and National Assets.
