ITA Airways launches direct Rome–Santo Domingo flights
Aeropuertos Dominicanos Siglo XXI (Aerodom) welcomed the announcement of a new direct route between Rome and Santo Domingo by ITA Airways, a move expected to strengthen air connectivity between the Dominican Republic and Italy while supporting growth in European tourism and business travel.
The new service will begin on November 30 with one weekly flight operating on Mondays. Starting December 14, the airline will increase operations to two weekly flights by adding Sunday service through March 2027. Flights will be operated using modern Airbus A330neo aircraft featuring Business, Premium Economy, and Economy cabins.
According to Aerodom, the addition of Rome to the route network of Las Américas International Airport further strengthens Santo Domingo’s position as the country’s primary international gateway. Aerodom CEO Cyril Girot said the new route will deepen ties between the Dominican Republic and Italy while enhancing the country’s attractiveness as a tourism and business destination. The service is part of ITA Airways’ broader expansion strategy in the Americas and is expected to promote tourism, trade, and cultural exchange between the two nations.
