Jarabacoa boosts sports tourism with motocross championship

Jarabacoa expanded its tourism offerings this weekend by hosting the third round of the National Motocross Championship, an international event that brought together top Dominican riders and Puerto Rico’s Los Boricuas del Oeste Racing Team at the Corocito MX Park.

The competition featured 11 official categories, including the premier MX-1 and MX-2 classes, attracting large crowds and showcasing Jarabacoa as a destination that combines outdoor adventure with high-level sporting events. Dominican riders, led by multiple champion Franklin “La Bestia” Nogueras, competed against a strong Puerto Rican lineup in one of the season’s most anticipated races.

The event highlighted the growing role of sports tourism in Jarabacoa’s economy, generating business for hotels, restaurants, tour operators, and local shops. Already known for rafting, hiking, paragliding, and other adventure activities, the mountain destination continues to strengthen its reputation as one of the Dominican Republic’s leading hubs for active and sports tourism.
