JetBlue cancels flights between Santo Domingo and New York as storms disrupt air travel

Santo Domingo.- Severe storms in the New York metropolitan area forced the cancellation of at least six round-trip JetBlue flights between Las Américas International Airport (AILA) in Santo Domingo and John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), disrupting travel for hundreds of passengers.

AILA operator Aerodom said the cancellations were caused by dangerous weather conditions in the northeastern United States, where heavy rain, thunderstorms, and the risk of flash flooding prompted widespread disruptions to air traffic.

Canceled departures from Santo Domingo included JetBlue flights 710 and 1850, while several return flights from New York, including flight 1849, were also called off. Another scheduled arrival, flight 2709, remained subject to changing weather conditions and airline operational decisions.

The disruptions left passengers stranded at both Santo Domingo and New York airports as they awaited rebooking options. Aerodom advised travelers to verify their flight status with JetBlue or their travel agent before heading to the airport.

The latest cancellations come as severe weather triggered hundreds of flight delays and cancellations across airports in the northeastern United States, marking the second time this month that U.S. weather has significantly disrupted air travel between the Dominican Republic and the United States.
