Leonel Fernández meets Turkish ambassador to discuss bilateral collaboration

Santo Domingo.- Former President Leonel Fernández, president of the Global Democracy and Development Foundation (FUNGLODE), met with Turkey’s ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Emriye Bağdagül Ormancı, to explore new opportunities for academic, cultural, and institutional collaboration between the two countries.

The meeting, held at FUNGLODE’s headquarters in Santo Domingo, focused on strengthening diplomatic ties between the Dominican Republic and Türkiye. Discussions highlighted initiatives related to education, research, dialogue, and sustainable development, as both sides expressed interest in expanding exchanges and joint projects.

Fernández reaffirmed FUNGLODE’s commitment to promoting international cooperation and knowledge sharing, while Ambassador Ormancı emphasized Türkiye’s interest in deepening bilateral relations. Also present were Cansu Onur, third secretary of the Turkish Embassy, and Guacayarima Sosa Machado.
