Luis Abinader falls three spots in regional presidential poll

Santo Domingo.- President Luis Abinader dropped three places in the latest CB Global Data ranking of Latin American presidents, falling from fourth to seventh in the July 2026 survey.

According to the poll, Abinader received a 44.5% positive approval rating, down 10.3 percentage points from the 54.8% recorded in June.

El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele topped the regional ranking with a 69.1% approval rating, followed by Mexico’s Claudia Sheinbaum (65.5%) and Costa Rica’s Laura F. Delgado (56.1%). Paraguay’s Santiago Peña, Brazil’s Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and Bolivia’s Rodrigo Paz rounded out the top six.

Abinader ranked ahead of the presidents of Honduras, Chile, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Colombia, Uruguay, Argentina, Panama, Guatemala, Peru, and Venezuela, whose leader Delcy Rodríguez placed last in the survey.

The study was conducted between July 3 and 8, 2026, surveying between 4,625 and 6,271 respondents in each of 18 Latin American countries. The poll reported a margin of error of ±1.2% to ±1.4% and a 95% confidence level.
