Marileidy Paulino breaks Monaco Diamond League record in 400 meters
Dominican Olympic champion Marileidy Paulino continued her outstanding 2026 season by winning the women’s 400 meters at the Monaco Diamond League this Friday, clocking 48.67 seconds to set a new meet record at the prestigious Stade Louis II.
Paulino broke the previous meet record of 48.97 seconds, set by Bahamian sprinter Shaunae Miller-Uibo, while claiming her second consecutive victory in Monaco. The runner from Nizao crossed the finish line 0.17 seconds ahead of American Aaliyah Butler, who placed second in 48.84, while Czech athlete Lurdes Gloria Manuel finished third in 49.44.
The victory adds another milestone to an already impressive campaign for the Dominican star. In her previous Diamond League appearance in Paris, Paulino ran 48.48 seconds, setting a meet record and recording her fastest time of the season.
Widely regarded as one of the world’s premier 400-meter runners, Paulino continues to strengthen her legacy with another record-breaking performance on the international circuit. Her latest triumph reinforces her status as the athlete to beat ahead of the season’s major championships.
