Marileidy Paulino wins Paris Diamond League with season’s best time

Paris.- Dominican Olympic champion Marileidy Paulino delivered another dominant performance on Sunday, winning the women’s 400 meters at the Paris Diamond League with a world-leading time of 48.48 seconds, extending her unbeaten start to the 2026 season.

Competing before nearly 20,000 spectators at Charléty Stadium, Paulino controlled the race from the opening meters and crossed the finish line comfortably ahead of Czech runner Lurdes Gloria Manuel, who placed second in a personal-best 49.37 seconds, while Jamaica’s Stacey Ann Williams finished third in 49.51.

The victory marked Paulino’s 23rd career Diamond League win and her second triumph of the 2026 circuit after opening the season with a victory in Doha on June 19. Her winning time also set a new Paris Diamond League meet record, a Diamond League circuit record, and the fastest women’s 400-meter time in the world this season.

The result further strengthens Paulino’s lead in the Diamond League standings and reinforces her status as the favorite to capture another series title. The Nizao native also improved on her previous season-best of 48.91 seconds, continuing her remarkable streak of consecutive victories as she builds momentum for the year’s major international championships.
