Max Puig calls for climate action focused on sustainable development at OECD forum
Max Puig, executive vice president of the National Council for Climate Change, urged countries to accelerate the transition toward sustainable economic development during the OECD’s Inclusive Forum on Carbon Mitigation Approaches in Paris, emphasizing that climate action should prioritize both emissions reductions and social well-being.
Puig highlighted the Dominican Republic’s commitment to implementing climate policies that drive structural changes in key sectors while advancing the country’s updated climate plan, NDC 3.0. He said the nation is strengthening frameworks for financing, transparency, and implementation to ensure measurable and effective climate action.
He also underscored efforts to reduce emissions in the electricity, industrial, agriculture, and transportation sectors, stressing that modernizing these industries is essential to building a low-carbon economy and promoting long-term economic and social resilience through international cooperation.
