Migration agency launches upgraded system to speed traveler processing

Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Republic’s General Directorate of Migration (DGM) has upgraded its DOM-02 computer system to improve immigration inspections, enhance security, and streamline administrative services for travelers.

The updated platform uses biometric verification by comparing a traveler’s passport photo with the image stored on the passport’s electronic chip, making identity checks more reliable while helping prevent identity fraud and reducing document validation errors.

The system also incorporates multispectral passport analysis, displaying images captured under natural, infrared, and ultraviolet light to better detect document alterations and verify security features. In addition, inspectors can access a traveler’s photographic history to improve identity verification.

Beyond border inspections, the modernization also simplifies administrative procedures by standardizing registration processes, improving fee collection management, and delivering faster, more efficient customer service.

Just wondering if Migracion “upgraded system” is that “upgraded” means tapping into foreign based data bases on occasion to search traveler information when there is little or nothing in this country’s systems?
