Miguel Vargas accuses the government of failing to fulfill its promises: “It has done absolutely nothing”

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic – The president of the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD), Miguel Vargas Maldonado, lashed out at the Government’s management, accusing it of failing to fulfill its promises and ignoring the Dominican people’s main demands.

“A deceitful government, a government of promises, a government that has done absolutely nothing other than to fail to fulfill those promises,” Vargas said during a swearing-in ceremony of PRD leaders held this Saturday at the party’s National House.

The opposition leader described the current administration as “poor management for the benefit of the vast majority of the Dominican people” and maintained that the demands of the citizens have been ignored by the authorities.

The remarks were made during the swearing-in ceremony for the leaders taking charge of the PRD’s municipal and district organizations in the province of Barahona, at an event presided over by Vargas, alongside Peggy Cabral, secretary-general; Héctor Guzmán, executive president; Carlos Dicló, national secretary of organization; and Pelvis Deñó, president of the Barahona Provincial Committee.

During the activity, Ayadi de León, from Pescadería; Domingo Ernesto de León, from Foundation; Israel Matos, from Quita Coraza; Beyanira López, from the municipal district of Cachón; and Maconi Ferrera, from Palo Alto. The leadership of the municipal district of Habanero was also sworn in.

With these appointments, the PRD completed its organizational structure in the province of Barahona, as part of its efforts to strengthen its leaders’ territorial presence and coordination with the National Directorate.

The day reaffirmed the process of organizing the party in the municipalities and municipal districts of the province, in a context in which its president maintains a critical discourse against the performance of the Government.
