Mirex denies false statements attributed to El Salvador’s Nayib Bukele
Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mirex) on Monday denied a social media post falsely attributing statements against the Dominican government and Armed Forces to Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele.
Mirex confirmed that Bukele did not make the statements and said the publication contains content attributed to an account that does not exist.
The ministry said it is investigating the origin of the false content and determining any responsibilities arising from its dissemination, in accordance with Dominican law. It did not rule out legal action against those responsible.
Mirex urged the public to verify information attributed to foreign officials before sharing it, particularly when it comes from unofficial or unverifiable accounts.
The ministry also reaffirmed that relations between the Dominican Republic and El Salvador remain based on cooperation and regular communication between both governments.
