Moisés Ruiz calls for stronger Dominican immigration controls after Ceuta crisis

Santo Domingo.- Journalist Moisés Ruiz said the recent migration crisis in Ceuta, Spain, where thousands of migrants crossed the border from Morocco, should serve as a warning for the Dominican Republic to strengthen immigration controls along its border with Haiti.

Speaking on the program Enfrentados, broadcast on El Nuevo Diario TV, Ruiz argued that the scenes from Ceuta highlight the importance of maintaining effective border security and immigration enforcement.

Ruiz said he does not oppose migration itself, noting that many people leave their countries in search of better opportunities. However, he argued that governments must have effective systems to regulate the entry and stay of foreign nationals.

The journalist also expressed concern about the presence of undocumented Haitian migrants in various sectors of the Dominican economy, calling for stricter enforcement of the country’s immigration laws. During the program, he claimed that irregular migration has grown significantly, emphasizing the need for stronger border controls.
