More than 5,000 tourism jobs offered at employment fair in La Romana
La Romana.- More than 5,000 job opportunities were offered to Dominicans during the “Your Job Is Here: in Tourism” employment fair organized by the Ministry of Labor in La Romana, with participation from more than 50 tourism companies.
The event, held at the Eleoncio Mercedes Sports Center, brought together employers and job seekers as part of efforts to address the tourism sector’s hiring needs and facilitate access to formal employment.
Juan Bancalari, president of the Dominican Hotel and Tourism Association (Asonahores), described tourism as the country’s main source of income and encouraged Dominicans to pursue technical and professional training to meet the sector’s growing demand for skilled workers.
The participation of more than 50 companies strengthened public-private cooperation by allowing applicants to present their professional profiles and connect directly with employers through recruitment processes.
During the event, the Ministry of Labor also recognized Bancalari for his contribution to tourism development and job creation, while Rafael Blanco Canto was honored for his career and contributions to strengthening the industry.
The ministry said the initiative forms part of its efforts to strengthen employment intermediation services, bring job opportunities closer to the population and support the incorporation of more workers into the formal labor market.
