National Assets raises RD$57.3 million in second public auction of 2026

Santo Domingo.- The General Directorate of National Assets raised RD$57.3 million during its second public auction of 2026, where 123 cases and 61 lots of transferable vehicles, vehicle bodies, furniture, motorcycles for parts, and scrap metal were sold.

The auction was held at the auditorium of the Higher Education Police Institute (IPES) and attracted dozens of bidders. According to Auction Department head Nelson Gómez, the items came from various public institutions and were available at National Assets warehouses located along the Mella Highway and at Merca Santo Domingo.

Participants paid a RD$2,000 registration fee to qualify for the auction. Winning bidders have five business days to complete payment by certified check payable to the National Treasury, followed by another five business days to remove their purchases from the designated warehouses.

Deputy Director General José Moya Mejía presided over the event on behalf of National Assets Director General Rafael Burgos Gómez. Officials said the auction was carried out under public notice and supervised by a public auctioneer, a notary, and representatives from the Fair Prices Commission, the Ministry of Public Works, and the Comptroller General’s Office to ensure transparency and compliance with public auction regulations.
