National Police arrest members of the criminal gang “Los 5.5” in Bajos de Haina

Santo Domingo.- The National Police arrested eight people who allegedly belong to the gang called “Los 5.5”, in the municipality of Bajos de Haina, San Cristóbal province.

They are Ezequiel Adonis Peguero Méndez (a) “Chulito”, 22 years old; Richard Velázquez Mercedes (a) “Omar”, 24; Juan David Araujo Martínez (a) “David”, 18, and a minor, who had arrest warrants against them.

Also, Luis Felipe Ventura (a) “Chano” and/or “Piyoyo”, 24; Johnny Peña Castro, 18; and Hostin Joanger Martínez (a) “Hostin”, 18, who decided to surrender to the authorities.

Finally, another teenager, whose name is omitted for legal reasons, was arrested in the act of committing a crime, according to a report from the Investigations Division of the local police.

The detainees remain in police custody and will be placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office for the corresponding legal purposes.

Meanwhile, investigations continue to establish their respective responsibilities and to determine the possible involvement of others in the events under investigation.
