New York to host 2026 Dominican Book and Culture Festival

The Dominican Republic will celebrate the 2026 Dominican Book and Culture Festival in New York City from July 10 to 12, bringing together writers, artists, artisans, entrepreneurs, and cultural leaders from the Dominican diaspora and beyond. The event will take place at the George Washington Educational Campus in Washington Heights and will be led by Culture Minister Roberto Ángel Salcedo.

According to Rey Andújar, the festival will feature a multidisciplinary program centered on literature, arts, entrepreneurship, and cultural identity under the theme that “reading is flourishing.” The event aims to showcase Dominican talent and cultural industries in the United States while strengthening ties with the Dominican community abroad.

The program includes literary panels, author readings, an artisan bazaar, a women entrepreneurs pavilion, fashion exhibitions, and cultural performances. Delegations of writers from the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Spain, and several U.S. regions will participate. The festival will also honor national figures such as Juan Pablo Duarte, Rosa Duarte, and Ercilia Pepín through special exhibits and presentations.

Organizers say the festival will place special emphasis on engaging children and young people in the Dominican diaspora through dedicated literary and educational activities designed to promote reading, creativity, and cultural heritage.
